Help with an Arthru Ashe question??

I am entering a USTA essay contest. The topic is "How do you exemplify the ideals of Arthur Ashe?". Can someone please explain what exactly this question is asking? Am I supposed to write about the good deeds or Ashe, or say how I do good things like him...? I am trying to understand what the question is asking me to do. Please help! :)
