In recent times a number of US politicians have advertised their support for more domestic offshore drilling?

Some of them, including the governor of California, have backed off from that support, claiming the recent BP deep water rig accident as justification. The BP deep water rig was an exploratory floating facility in very deep water, about 4000 feet deeper than that contemplated for drilling off Santa Barbara and other locations. No matter the dissimilarity of the BP rig in question compared to other, more typical rigs, it seems that these politicians have never heard of an oil spill before, or they actually thought one might never again occur. What goes on in these people's heads when they make decisions? Any decision maker must weigh pros and cons. These politicians don't seem to feel the need to engage in this sort of decision-making. I believe women voters are the reason our country is being afflicted by such poor leaders. These leaders and the women who prove instrumental in their being elected are leading the US into oblivion. I say "let's take away the women's right to vote". It will prove a boon to our country in many important ways. What say you?
