Do you need a AAS in ECE and a Certificate?

I have been researching starting a career in Early Childhood Education and I have found a degree program through my local community college to obtain my AAS in ECE but there is also a Certificate program that you can go through. My question is if you obtain your AAS do you still need a Certificate? Which would be better to do? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated thanks!
