Why does the Bible say that BATS are birds?

The reference to "bats" in Lev. 11:19 is highly uncertain. It is not a taxonomy problem; it is a translation problem. Until and unless the Hebrew word 'atall�ph can be precisely and certainly identified, there are no solid grounds upon which to ume an error exists here.
